Billing
CloseClients usually wish to understand my billing policy.
In most cases, I require a deposit to be made against fees and disbursements and then I send out a statement regularly so the client knows the time spent on the matter and the disbursements incurred.
On certain types of work, I can quote a total fee, subject to changes in the scope of work. For example, with respect to Wills and real estate work, usually the scope of work to be done can be identified and quoted.
Other work, especially litigation, is usually difficult to give a firm quote on, except on an hourly basis, since one does not usually know at the outset what the other side will do. However, in some cases, other than family law work, we can structure a fee agreement based on a percentage of the dollar value of the claim.
Where hourly rates are to be charged, my usual hourly rate is $400.00.
Payment plans can be set up. Credit card payments are accepted.
